Heartbreaking news is coming about shooting at Abundant Life Christian School in Madison, Wisconsin on Monday Dec 16 2024. A teacher and a student have lost their lives leaving six others injured with two in critical condition in this incident.
The shooter who was later identified as a 15-year-old student named Natalie Rupnow aka Samantha. She used a 9mm pistol during the attack. Tragically Natalie also shot herself and later died from her injuries on the way to the hospital.
The Shooting at Abundant Life Christian School
The shooting began at 10:57 AM. A quick-thinking second-grade student called 911, bringing police to the scene within minutes. Officers acted professionally & helped the injured while securing the area. At the time, the school, which has around 390 students, was preparing for the Christmas holidays.
Support for Families
A reunification center was set up at a local hospital to help families connect with their loved ones. Counseling services also been offered to students, teachers and families affected by this tragedy.
Investigation
MDP Chief Shon Barnes confirmed that the investigation is still underway. Authorities are trying to figure out why this happened. The shooter’s father is cooperating with the police to provide more information.
President Mr. Joe Biden has shared his condolences to the victims families and asked that we need implement stronger laws to prevent such tragedies. Madison’s Mayor Mr. Satya Rhodes-Conway along with Wisconsin Governor Mr. Tony Evers have also expressed their sympathies to the victims families.
The school has been shut while the investigations continue. The community has also been asked to give the families privacy and time to grieve.
