The 84-year-old congresswoman from California was in Luxembourg to attend an event commemorating the valor and sacrifice of those involved in the Battle of the Bulge.

Ian Krager, a spokesperson for Nancy Pelosi, issued a statement about the incident: “While accompanying a bipartisan Congressional delegation to Luxembourg for the 80th-anniversary of the Battle of the Bulge, Speaker Emerita Nancy Pelosi met with an unfortunate injury during an official proceeding and was admitted to a hospital for further assessments.”

Krager further explained, emphasizing the great treatment Pelosi is receiving and her unwavering dedication to her duties: “Speaker Emerita Pelosi is currently receiving excellent treatment from doctors and medical professionals. She continues to work and regrets that she is unable to attend the remainder of the CODEL engagements to honor the courage of our servicemembers during one of the greatest acts of American heroism in our nation’s history. Speaker Emerita Pelosi conveys her thanks and praise to our veterans and gratitude to people of Luxembourg and Bastogne for their service in World War II and their role in bringing peace to Europe.”

Krager also conveyed Nancy Pelosi’s heartfelt gratitude: “Speaker Emerita Pelosi was personally and officially honored to travel with the distinguished delegation, many of whom had family members who fought in World War II — including her uncle, Johnny & looks forward to returning home to the U.S. soon.”

A Mission of Remembrance – Pelosi’s presence in Luxembourg on Friday, accompanied by a bipartisan Congressional members, was intended to pay homage to the 80th anniversary of the Battle of the Bulge.
