Tiktok Ban Imposed Due to Security Concerns
TikTok is being banned in the US due to security concerns. TikTok’s remarks came against the backdrop of the US Supreme Court’s decision. White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre stressed that the responsibility to enforce the law now rests with the incoming administration.
In her statement on Friday, Jean-Pierre said, “The administration, like the rest of the country, is awaiting the US Supreme Court’s decision in the TikTok case. Biden’s position on TikTok has been clear for several months. Lawmakers have sent a bill to the President.” The statement further said that this administration believes that the action to enforce the law should depend on the next administration. Let us tell you that President Joe Biden’s term ends on Monday i.e. January 20. Donald Trump will now take over as President in his place.
Newly elected President Donald Trump had reacted to the court’s decision in an interview. However, he did not make any commitment to withdraw the ban. Trump also confirmed he spoke with Chinese President Xi Jinping about TikTok.
